Cross-country skiing in the Casies Valley

The xc-skiing paradise in Italy

No matter what your expectations are, you will find what you are looking for in the Casies Valley and its surroundings: the Casies Valley, a side valley of the Puster Valley and a neighbouring valley of the Anterselva Valley, is a true cross-country skiing paradise. It offers routes of all levels of difficulty as well as the internationally popular Gsiesertallauf as part of the Euroloppet series.

Due to the snow guarantee and the perfectly prepared cross-country trails, the Casies Valley has made an international name over the past years. From the beginning of December until the middle of March the cross-country skiing adventure is guaranteed.

The wide, sunny valley ground is ideal for cross-country skiing in winter. The tracks run through snow-covered fields and forests, past picturesque farmhouses and guesthouses and always with the Dolomites in the background. The cross-country ski run covers 42km and reaches from Santa Maddalena at 1515m above sea level to Monguelfo at 1183m above sea level. Especially the trail from San Martino to Santa Maddalena is a highlight for ambitious cross-country skiers due to its high level of difficulty.

In Monguelfo you have access to the Pustertaler Skimarathon trail in the direction of Villabassa, Braies Valley, Dobbiaco, San Candido and Sesto. If you are fit enough, you can also run from Santa Maddalena to Cortina without interruption (a distance of 60 km).

The Cross-country skiing school Gsiesertal is at 300m from the house.
