Enjoy intense sunlight, pure air and low temperatures to positively support your immune system.

Cross country skiing

The Casies Valley also makes the hearts of sportsmen beat faster in winter. The cross-country ski runs in the Casies Valley, famous for their perfect snow conditions, are perfectly prepared every day and, thanks to their 42 kilometres of slopes, are ideally suited to all requirements. Whether skating or classic, the cross-country ski run leads through the whole of the Casies Valley and is now very famous for the annual Gran Fondo Val Casies.

In the immediate vicinity of our Mountain Residence Montana is the Skilift of Santa Maddalena, a small but very sunny ski area with ski school and ski rental, ideal for skiing for children, beginners and families.

Moreover, the Casies Valley is the ideal starting point to the ski paradise "Dolomiti Superski", the biggest ski carousel of the world, to the Plan de Corones, to Corvara (Sellaronda), and to the ski area Tre Cime Dolomites.

If you don't want to miss out on hiking in winter either, the Casies Valley is just the right place for you. Here, far away from the après-ski hustle and bustle, you can experience the winter from its most beautiful and natural side.

Steel blue skies, warming sunrays and lots of powder snow accompany you on the best prepared hiking trails as well as on the snow-covered slopes. As in summer, you can also enjoy a variety of serviced mountain huts in winter.

The Casies Valley is known for its varied mountain tours, which can be hiked not only in summer. In winter the valley and the surrounding Dolomites offer a wide range of ski tours.

Alpine huts in winter

The Casies Valley is famous for its alpine huts. Many of the alpine huts are open in summer as well as in winter and offer a wonderful end to many a strenuous hike or ski tour. Use a toboggan after a stop at one of the many alpine huts to return to the valley.

Sledding has become a popular winter sport and is a nice alternative to skiing. Toboggans can be rented in all ski rentals. Most of the ski areas have their own toboggan runs, on Haunold and Rotwand these are also illuminated in the evening. Alternatively, there are many alpine huts from which you can descend by toboggan after a hike. At full moon, after a stop in one of the many mountain huts, you can also take the toboggan down into the valley by moonlight.

Horse-drawn carriage ride

Covered warmly in a cuddly blanket, you will take a horse-drawn sleigh ride through romantic winter forests. The horses trot peacefully, snow crystals sparkle in the sun, a neighing breaks the silence. Enjoy a ride through the winter wonderland.
