Lake Anterselva

Lake Anterselva is one of the most beautiful Alpine lakes and one of the largest mountain lakes in South Tyrol. The lake is situated at 1640m above sea level at the end of the Anterselva Valley and at the foot of the Staller Sattel. The lake impresses above all with its turquoise green colour and the Rieserferner Glacier in the background.

Where is Lake Anterselva located?

Lake Anterselva is located at the end of the Anterselva Valley, a side valley of the Puster Valley. The intersection to the Antholz Valley is located between the villages of Monguelfo and Valdaora.

How far is Lake Anterselva from Mountain Residence Montana?

From us to the lake Anterselva you need 40-45 minutes by car. It is about 40 km.

How do you get to Lake Antholz?

It is possible to reach the lake by car all year round.

Alternatively you can also use public transport. From Santa Maddalena to Monguelfo by bus, from Monguelfo to Valdaora by train and from Valdaora train station by bus to the lake.

Where can I park?

In front of the lake opposite the biathlon stadium are plenty of parking spaces. 


Can I swim in Lake Antholz?

You can swim in Lake Antholz, but even in midsummer the temperature is only 20°C maximum. 


Is there a boat rental at the lake?
There is no boat rental at Lake Antholz 


Can you walk around the lake?

There is a beautiful lake walk which also includes an informative trail. 

Is it possible to eat at Lake Antholz - which restaurants are good?

In front of the lake or along the lake there are the following good restaurants and mountain huts: Huber Alm, Tiroler Hütte, Platzl am See and Enzianhütte. 


Tips: It is recommended to ride up to the Staller Sattel after the lake round trip and to circumnavigate the Obersee. From the Staller Sattel you also have a very nice view of Lake Anterselva.
