Tour Highlights
While enjoying this pleasant circular tour, you will repeatedly be rewarded with impressive views of the mountain world of the Gsies Valley as well as of the Dolomites. If you like, you can make a short detour to Lake Dobbiaco. A stop in Dobbiaco itself is also worthwhile for a good coffee. You may also visit the spa park in Villabassa. In Monguelfo, before the final climb back into the Gsies Valley, you can enjoy a relaxing break at Prenninger Park or in one of the cozy cafés.

The tour starts right at our doorstep and begins with a descent. Below the church in S. Maddalena we cross to the other side of the valley via a side road and continue downhill or flat until we reach the hamlet of Oberplanken. From there we take forest road no. 43, which climbs moderately to steeply, until we reach a junction with a bench and a cross. Here we keep right and continue via Frondeigen and the Staller meadows, following forest road no. 60, and then descend on a paved road down to Dobbiaco. In Dobbiaco we join the Pustertal cycle path and follow it to Monguelfo, where we then take the cycle path into the Gsies Valley, leading us back to S. Maddalena.
